Can I drive/bring my car to NYC?

Ohhh Fuggetaboutit! Bringing your car to New York City makes about as much sense as keeping a box of hair under your bed. It's silly. It is also a total inconvenience that serves zero purpose. It will cost you more in time and money (to park) than any possible benefit. You're not gonna drive around Manhattan from place to place or find street parking. You're not gonna find a hotel that offers parking for guests and you certainly do not want to contend with the crazy cabbies and stop and go traffic.

Lets say you have no choice, then what? Maybe you live nearby, maybe it's a money thing or maybe you're doing an east coast tour and hitting up multiple states. Well, in that case, I'd highly recommend staying outside Manhattan in one of the outer boroughs like Queens. Many of the hotels offer parking which will enable you to leave your car behind and take the subway in. Western parts of Queens are as close as 15 minutes away via subway and it's affordable and reliable. For more on staying in Queens, see my other post, "What if I can't afford to stay in Manhattan".
