When is the cheapest time of year to visit?

Beginning the second week of January, right up through the end of February, you'll notice hotels are a plenty and rates at an all time low, but there's a reason why. The winters in New York City can be brutal. Not, just cold, but downright nasty. And, what do you plan to do in this wonderful climate? Well, you're not gonna traipse around Times Square all frickin' day and you're not gonna go for a stroll through Central Park, so what can you do?

Museums are an option. And that's not limiting you to just the Museum of Natural History or the Museum of Modern Art. New York City has plenty of unique museums dedicated to everything from medieval gardens to sex. Yup, I said sex. Of course, some of you prudes may find issue with that, so maybe Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum is more your speed. That'll run you nearly 40 clams for admission, BTW. You can however, save a lot of cabbage on entry to museums if you buy a New York Pass. What's a New York Pass? Well in case you missed my ground breaking editorial, it's a pass (like a credit card) that grants you entry to over 70 attractions and comes with a nifty guidebook for a flat rate. It'll get you into museums, landmarks like the Empire State Building and tours like NBC studios and tons more. You can even download a free app for your smarty pants phone. Here are the deets.... New York Pass

Another indoor option for a chilly day is the NY Skyride. What's that? Imagine taking a helicopter view of New York City without the hefty price tag or fear of the elements. The NY Skyride is a virtual tour simulator that covers a buttload of ground from a moving theater located in The Empire State Building. Moving? Yes, it actually simulates motion while you view the sights on a massive 18 foot high definition screen. This 30 minute tour is narrated by Kevin Bacon and features dozens of New York City landmarks. Not a bad way to see things that may be not be practical in crappy weather.  For a different view of New York City check out NY SKYRIDE

One Card. One Price. Endless Fun!
